This means we actively welcome people of all sexual orientations, ethnicities and religious backgrounds.

Weddings & Services of Union
Each wedding is a unique expression of the hopes, dreams, and beliefs of the couple getting married. UCE offers a guidebook for those planning their service. It is a guide only and not a set of requirements. Our goal is to create the service you desire. Here’s the guide: Getting Married – A Guide to the Wedding Service at the Unitarian Church of Edmonton.
You may choose a Unitarian minister or Lay Chaplain to preside at a service here or at another location. Our goal is to design a service that fits your religious and spiritual needs as much as possible. While our officiants can offer suggestions, our church has no prescribed service formats or required words. We try to remain flexible and open to your ideas and wishes.
For over four decades we have been offering Services of Union to same-sex couples. Under current Canadian law we are pleased that we can now perform full and legal wedding ceremonies for all.
Participants in most services usually meet with the minister or Lay Chaplain and plan the ceremony together. The minister and Lay Chaplains have the right to refuse to participate in any ceremony, or any aspect of a ceremony, with which they feel uncomfortable.
Naming & Dedication: A Service for Parents and Children
The ceremony of naming and dedication stands as a symbol of the child’s relationship to a nurturing community, expressing itself in wider and wider circles of inclusiveness.
The Unitarian Church of Edmonton has prepared a Naming and Dedication Ceremony Guide.
