Our Minister from

1986 - 1995

Born in Norwell, Massachusetts, John first studied English literature and theatre for his B.A., which he obtained in 1977 from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and then went on to Harvard Divinity School, fulfilling a “long-held dream” of becoming a minister. He was ordained in 1982.

Today, John is currently working on a Doctor of Ministry at the Colgate Rochester Theological School. Since then John has served congregations in Edmonton, San Francisco, and New England.

On May 10, 2009, Rev. Marsh was given a strong call to ministry at the Ottawa congregation with an acclamation rate of 98.5 percent. His wife Alison is daughter of Edmonton UU Ruth Patrick. He is the new (2009) minister at First Unitarian in Ottawa.
