Erica DeNeve: “What is Prayer Without God?”
The question of what personal prayer without God has been answered I think. That would involve meditation and exploring the silence. But what about praying with someone else? What might that look like if we weren’t praying to God together? Unitarianism has largely left the idea of prayer behind, with good reasons for that decision. But in that culling of practices have we lost something valuable? And if so, how could we reshape that idea to fit as part of our faith?
Erica has been involved with UCE for many years off and on. She is currently
involved with the Religious Exploration program, and wears different volunteer
hats as needed. Erica is a massage therapist who works with people with chronic pain. She is also a huge nerd about mythology, theology, philosophy and science, and loves exploring themes related to those subjects.
