Intern Ministers

From time to time, the our church may host an intern minister. An intern ministry is one of the steps in the path to ordination as a Unitarian Universalist minister.

REVEREND MEG ROBERTS

Rev. Meg Roberts was an intern minister at UCE in 2001-02. She was at the Westwood Unitarian Congregation in 2002 and at the Unitarian Church of Montreal in 2003. She is currently the minister at the Unitarian Church of Calgary.

REVEREND FRAN DEARMAN

Fran was an intern minister from August 2000 to May 2001 as part of an internship jointly undertaken by UCE and the Westwood Unitarian Congregation. Fran earned her BA Honours and MA degrees in Classics from the University of Victoria, and spent six months on archaeological excavation, travel and survey in the middle east. In May 2000, she graduated with a Masters in Divinity from the Vancouver School of Theology (VST). She was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister in April 2002. Since being called in September 2002, Fran has served as minister at the Anchorage Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Alaska.

It is drawn from the history of the Christian Reformation in Czechoslovakia where Jan Hus asserted that all members of the congregation, and not only the priests, should be allowed to drink from the chalice at holy communion. Hus was burned at the stake for his efforts, but his followers persisted in building a church that believes in the "priesthood of all believers."
